  • U12 boys

    SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS

    To be awarded to the player most exhibiting sportsmanship and the values of the St Ives Football Club.

  • U13 girls

    ENCOURAGEMENT AWARDS

    This award goes to a player who is always at training, always prepared to listen to the coach and put the guidance into play at training and during matches. She is focussed upon improving her skills and contribution to the team every week. Does not distract team mates at training and is committed to playing whatever role is asked of her.

    WINFRIED ROGE TOWER OF STRENGTH AWARD

    The award for persistence and determination in defence. This is a Backman’s Award for one of the toughest jobs in the team. Winfried coached at St Ives for many years from the mid 1980’s to the early 1990’s and he showed great admiration for defenders.

    ROD WILKES PERPETUAL ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD

    This award goes to the player that is not the most talented boy on the field but who is always at training, always prepared to do as the coach asks, helps coordinate teammates, even when injured still turns up to training and games. Listens to the coach and tries to put it into play at training and on the ground. Does not distract team mates at training and is focused as a team player.

    Rod Wilkes was a long serving player in the St Ives seniors who also coached juniors in the 1980’s.

    DANNY CALLINAN MEMORIAL AWARD

    Awarded for dedication and determination and for the recognition of general service to the Club by a player.

     Danny Callinan was tragically killed in a car accident whilst he was a player in the 1980’s. He was considered by many as a terrific team player, a real hard worker who wasn't a superstar but you'd pick him first every week.

    WRIGHT FAMILY AWARD

    Presented to the U15s player who demonstrates outstanding service to the Club and team.

  • U15 girls

    RENEE FORTH AWARD

    Renee Forth was the first ever St Ives JAFC Girls Footy Champion and she gave as much of her time to the girls’ cohorts as she possibly could. 

    A wonderful ambassador of Women’s AFL she moved from WA to NSW to play for the GWS Giants Women’s. As testimony to her resilience, she was injured just weeks before the very first Women’s AFL competition and stayed the course to play in the 2018 competition.

    The Renee Forth Award is awarded to the U15 girl who shows the same traits as Renee: dedication and hard work with a ‘giving more than you get’ approach to life.

    IAN WILKINS AWARD

    This award should go to the girl that may not be the best player on the field, but that, like Wilko, shows the most passion and determination.

    Ian Wilkins (Wilko) pioneered girls AFL at St Ives.  In the first season, 2017, he pulled together a team of U10s-U12s and a team of U13-U15s, the latter making it to the GF in their first year.   St Ives U14YGs won their first premiership in 2019.  Wilko’s passion and determination for forwarding girls AFL is second to none and Wilko is this Season’s U17YG head coach.

    JEMMA THORPE AWARD

    Jemma Thorp was the Club’s second St Ives JAFC Girls’ Footy Champion and gave much of her time and passion to the Club. A wonderful ambassador of Young Women in Australian Football Jemma gave her spare time not only to St Ives but to the Lane Cove Cats as well.

    This Award’s recipient should demonstrate Jemma's passion and commitment and is awarded to the U17 player who has shown the same traits as Jemma: Commitment, hard work and dedication.

    NORTH SHORE BOMBERS RISING STAR AWARD

    This award is given to the U17s player who is most likely to play senior football at a high level.

    GWS GIANTS WOMEN’S TEAM SPIRIT AWARD

    This Award is presented to the U17s player who demonstrates outstanding service to both the Club and the sport of AFL as a whole.

    LINDY JONES LEADERSHIP AWARDS

    This Award is for the Footballer of the Year and it is awarded to the player who has had the most influence on the team from a performance and talent perspective and who has demonstrated their leadership both on and off the field.

FAQS

  • Our club offers three AFl programs.

    Our Auskick programme is aimed at children ages 4–6.

    Season 2026 launches a new programme for Children ages 7years old called Superkick.

    These programmes run every Sunday through the season at Acron Oval St Ives.

    St Ives also offer junior footy for Under 8'sthrough to junior teams up to Under 17s. Every age group focuses on fun, skill development, and participation.

  • Not at all! Our programs are designed for beginners through to advanced players. Coaches tailor sessions so every child can learn at their own pace.

  • For training: Children should wear comfortable sports clothing and boots with moulded studs. The club offers training gear but this is not compulsory

    For games: A mouthguard is required for Under 8 up, the club will supply guernseys for the players, and players are required to purchase and wear club shorts and socks.

    Uniform can be purchased from our website, and from our clubhouse on game day.

    The club supplies footballs and training gear.

  • Most teams train once a week at our home ground. Exact days and times are confirmed at the start of the season and communicated by your team manager.

  • We encourage parent involvement! You can volunteer as a coach, team manager, umpire helper, or support gameday activities like the canteen or set-up/pack-down.
